Union Public Service Commission (UPSC), New Delhi, has announced the National Defence Academy (NDA) and Naval Academy (NA) (I) 2010 written examination results.Candidates can download the pdf file check their Roll no.

On the basis of the results of the written part of the NDA and NA Examination (I), 2010, conducted by UPSC on April 18, 2010, candidates with the Roll Numbers listed in the above link have qualified for Interview by the Services Selection Board of the Ministry of Defence for admission to Army, Navy and Air Force Wings of the National Defence Academy for the 125th Course and Naval Academy for 45th 10+2 (Executive Branch) Course, commencing from December 30, 2010.

WORD ASSOCIATION TEST

In WAT ,candidates are supposed to make short ,meaningful sentences on  words shown to them.These words are carefully  selected by the psychologists in order to reveal  their qualities ; and not their excellence in English language.A total of 60 word will be shown and you will get 16 sec to answer one word.Try to make your sentence short and positive. Words indicating negative sense should be presented in a positive manner.

These tests are in four parts as under:

Thematic Apperception Test (TAT)

Word Association Test (WAT)

Situation Reaction Test (SRT)

Self Description Test (SD)

Thematic Apperception Test (TAT)

You will be shown 10 pictures +1 blank slide ,on  which you are supposed to formulate a short story.

The story must be positive one ;mention about its past, future and what led to the situation shown in the picture.You will get 3 minutes for each story; after which slide(picture) will be changed.Few pictures shown in TAT are as follows.

Word Association Test (WAT)

You will be given 60 words and you are supposed to make sentences(positive one) out of it.After every 15sec a new word will be flashed on the screen and after every 15th word 3 sec will be given to turn the page.Avoid using advisory words like “should”.If you can’t think about a word leave it and go for the next.However keep track of your order.You can even use other forms of a given word like beautiful for beauty ,destruction for destroy etc.An example

Situation Reaction Test(SRT)

In Situation Reaction Test  60  situations will be given and your responses are to be marked in the answer sheet provided.Uour responses should be short and sensible.For example :You were going for an interview and midway you found a person lying unconscious .At the same time you urgently need that job .How will you react…..

Through this test psychologist tests what you know about yourself .A series of questions have to be answered by the candidate like;

2.What your parents and teachers think about yourself ?

4.What kind of person you would like to be (What are your weakness and what you are doing to improve it.) ?

How to Apply

One candidate to submit only one application form for one course, if any candidate submit two applications for more than one course, both the applications will be rejected.Forms are to be downloaded from the website www.desw.gov.in. Application forwarded in any other format will not be considered. Application to be forwarded on plain A4 size paper (typed or handwritten) in the prescribed format duly completed in all respects with superscription on the envelope “Prime Minister’s Scholarship Scheme for the Academic Year 2013-14”.

Documents to be attached alongwith PMSS Application Form.

(a) Specimen Copy Of Ex-Servicemen / Ex-Coast Guard Certificate (Page 8 of Application Form).

(b) Matriculation certificate duly attested.

(c) Minimum Educational Qualification certificate duly attested, as applicable. (10+2

Mark sheet / Graduation (mark sheets of 3 years) / Diploma (mark sheets of all semesters).

(d) Bonafide Certificate from Collage in original as per specimen (page 9 of Application Form).

(e) Photocopy of Bank Passbook showing A/c No and one cancelled cheque leaf.

Eligible Courses.

Professional Degree Courses like BE, B Tech, BDS, MBBS, B Ed, BBA, BCA, B Pharma, etc.duly recognized by the respective Government Regulatory Bodies, such as All India Council forTechnical Education, Medical Council of India, UGC. (Master Degree Courses are not eligiblefor PMSS except MBA, MCA). Students can see the list of eligible courses for details.Students studying abroad are not eligible for this scheme. Students getting stipend for theProfessional Degree Courses are also not entitled. No distance learning course is permittedunder PMSS. PMSS can be availed for one course only.

Scholarship for Integrated Courses.

The facility under PMSS is restricted for Professional Degree Course only, such as B Ed but not for BA+B Ed, also for LLB not for BA+LLB. In case of integrated ME / M Tech / M Pharma initial four years scholarship will be given.

Minimum Marks in MEQ should be 60%.

MEQ for entry to various Professional Courses differs e.g. for MBBS it is 10+2 where as for BE /B Tech it is 10+2 / Diploma, It is graduation for B Ed and MBA. A candidate must have minimum 60% marks in MEQ to be considered for scholarship.

Join Indian Coast Guard As Officers


Indian Coast Guard is an armed force of the union for enforcing the maritime laws of the country. Service in Coast Guard is not merely an employment; it is where you play the most important role of protecting the national interests of your motherland.

The Coast Guard is looking for young and dynamic general duty officers, pilot and engineers for recruitment as Assistant commandants. The salary will be approximately Rs 75000 a month. Those who have passed 12th with 60% marks in Physics and Maths ; or Engineering degree with 60% may apply.

CDS(II) 2012 Written Exam Results Declared


The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has declared the results for the written test of the Combined Defence Services Examination (II)-2012 .

The results are available on the UPSC website – http://www.upsc.gov.in or on http://www.examresults.net/upsc/

The exam was held by the UPSC in September 2012.

A total of 9833 candidates have cleared the written part of CDS (II) – 2012 and they will have to appear for the interview conducted by the Service Selection Board of the Ministry of Defence.

The interviews will be held for admission to (i) Indian Military Academy,
Dehradun 135th Course commencing in July, 2013 (ii) Naval Academy, Ezhimala, Kerala Course commencing in July, 2013 (iii) Air Force Academy, Hyderabad (Pre-Flying) Training Course for 194th F(P) Course commencing in July, 2013 (iv) Officers’ Training Academy, Chennai 98th SSC Course (for Men) commencing in October, 2013 and (v) Officers’
Training Academy, Chennai, 12th SSC Women (Non-Technical) Course commencing in October, 2013.

AFCAT Scheme of Syllabus:

1. The AFCAT Question Paper will have 100 questions. All questions will be of three marks each. For every correct answer the candidate will get three marks and for every wrong answer one mark will be deducted under negative marking. The total time allotted for the paper is two hours.

2. Each Question Paper will have questions from the following topics:-

(a) General Awareness – History, Sports, Geography, Environment, Civics, Basic Science, Defence, Art, Culture, Current Affairs, Politics etc.

(b) Verbal Ability in English – Comprehension, Error Detection, Sentence Completion, Synonyms, Antonyms and Testing of Vocabulary.

(c) Numerical Ability – Decimal Fraction, Simplification, Average, Profit & loss, Percentage, Ratio & Proportion and Simple interest.

(d) Reasoning and Military Aptitude Test – Verbal Skills and Spatial Ability.
